La Centre Pompidou

La Centre Pompidou

La Centre Pompidou was constructed in the 1970s by architects Renzo Piano and Richard Rogers.  This building is complex and radical for today’s time that is located in the Beaubourg area near Les Haller.  Le Centre Pompidou was 149’ (46m) tall. This Center was designed in a high-tech architecture style. This style included having escalators, water pipes and air conditions outside of the buildings to have more space inside to display the work of arts.  As a fact, color coding was issues as one of the features of the buildings.   They used red for escalators; green for water pipes; blue for air condition pipes; yellow for electricity pipes; gray for corridors; and white for the walls.    La Centre Pompidou includes the Bibliothèque Publique Information (Public Library) the Musée National d’Art Moderne (museum for modern art in Europe) and the IRCAM (Center for Music).   The President of France from 1969 to 1974 named Georges Pompidou commissioned this building to create an institution dedicated to modern arts.

L'Arc de Triomphe

L’Arc de Triomphe

L’Arc de Triomphe was built on August 15, 1806 restarted in 1825 and finished in 1836.   The construction of L’Arc de Triomphe in Paris was ordered by Napoleon, the French Emperor.  Napoleon wanted to respect the Grande Armée, the name of the French army. L’Arc de Triomphe cost about $9.3 million and it is one of the famous monuments in Paris. Several people helped build L’Arc de Triomphe such as Jean Chagrin, Guillaume- Abel Blouet, Jean-Nicoas Huyot, Jean- Arnaud Raymond and Louis- Robert Goust. L’Arc de Triomphe was built because Napoleon commissioned Chagrin to build an arch to the glory of the French Army.    L’Arc de Triomphe was a huge arch it was 164 feet high, 148 feet long, and 72 feet wide.   When Napoleon surrendered in 1814 all work of L’Arc de Triomphe stopped for about 10 years.    Originally Napoleon commissioned this structure to honor his victory.   At the end this monument was completed to honor the Revolutionary and Imperial armies, leaders and victories of the French government.

On my first trip to Paris

On my first trip to Paris

All this monuments displays the wealth and history of France. On my first trip to Paris I would want to visit all of them. But definitely I would go first to visit the Eiffel Tower. The Eiffel Tower represents the 100th year of the French Revolution that changed and history of France completed. It is a symbol of perseverance. It is a huge building that al the beautiful French monuments can be seen from the distance.  The Eiffel Tower was once the tallest structure in Paris until the modern Tour Montparnasse built. The Eiffel Tower is a unique building that many people enjoy going. I have seen many picture and read many websites about the Eiffel Tower and to me is the most spectacular tower ever. The Eiffel Tower is also in an iconic landmark which is famous all around the world. This monument is surrounded by many outstanding views which I would like to visit one day.
