La Tour Eiffel
The
Eiffel Tower also known as La dame de fer was built in
January 28, 1887 and finished on March 31, 1889. It took
two years and two months to build the Eiffel
Tower. Surprisingly this is a short period of time of how long it took to
build the Eiffel Tower. Stephen Sauvestre
was a French architect who built the Eiffel Tower. The Eiffel Tower was built because it was the
International Exhibition of Paris. The
purpose of building this tower was because it was to celebrate the 100th
anniversary of the French Revolution. The
Eiffel Tower is about 1,063 feet tall
and without the antenna it was about 984 feet tall. It was named after Gustave Eiffel. The Eiffel Tower was not only for
observation but it was also used as a radio broadcasting tower. When it was cold believe or not the Eiffel Tower actually shrank about 6
inches.
